## New AI-powered workflows

### AI Assistant

[V-Ray](https://www.chaos.com/vray) now has an AI Assistant built directly into the interface. It gives you guidance as you work, helps you explore lighting ideas, and finds the right assets without pulling you out of your scene.

Use Sky Match to match your scene's lighting and mood to a reference image, or ask for asset recommendations from Chaos Cosmos based on what you need. For new users, the AI Assistant makes learning V-Ray easier than ever. For experienced users, it speeds up scene setup and reduces manual work, so you can spend more time on creative decisions. Available in [V-Ray for SketchUp](https://blog.chaos.com/how-to-create-your-first-render-with-v-ray-for-sketchup?hsLang=en), [Rhino](https://www.chaos.com/vray/rhino), and [3ds Max](https://blog.chaos.com/vantage-vray-viewport-3ds-max?hsLang=en).

### AI asset generation and image-based search

[Chaos Cosmos](https://www.chaos.com/cosmos) adds two AI features that help you find and create assets faster. With [image-based search](https://blog.chaos.com/cosmos-ai-3d-generation-image-search?hsLang=en), you upload a reference image to find visually similar models and materials in the library, without having to guess the right keywords. When the asset you need doesn't exist, AI 3D model generation turns a single 2D reference image into a usable 3D model directly in Cosmos.

Together, they cover both sides of asset hunting: find what already exists, and generate what doesn't. Available in V-Ray for SketchUp, Rhino, and 3ds Max.

### MCP for external AI agents

New MCP servers for V-Ray and Cosmos, and Anima let compatible AI agents, such as Claude and ChatGPT, work directly with your V-Ray scenes. Through a standardized interface, an agent can inspect scene data, adjust render settings, find and place [Cosmos assets](https://blog.chaos.com/most-used-cosmos-assets?hsLang=en), and automate more complex workflows.

Agents can access V-Ray-specific information across lights, materials, cameras, and render and environment settings, then act on it for you. The result is AI assistance inside your existing workflow, with fewer manual steps between an idea and a finished render.

V-Ray MCP is available for SketchUp and Rhino, with third-party MCP support for V-Ray for 3ds Max. An MCP server for Vantage is coming soon.

## More realistic lighting and volumetrics

### Native V-Ray Spotlight

The new native V-Ray Spotlight in [V-Ray for 3ds Max](https://blog.chaos.com/vray7-3dsmax-transforming-workflow?hsLang=en) gives you greater artistic control over your lighting. Create precise, directional lighting effects and project light accurately through volumetric environments for more realistic, atmospheric results.

The improved V-Ray Spotlight in V-Ray for SketchUp and Rhino allows you to shape and direct light with greater precision using the new integrated barn doors. Gain physically accurate control over light beams and their cutoffs to create more refined lighting effects and achieve your desired artistic results.

### Cylinder Light

V-Ray introduces the new Cylindrical Light, purpose-built for fixtures like neon signs and linear architectural accents. It emits light from a true parametric cylinder, so you can set the exact length and radius to match real-world luminaires. This delivers physically accurate falloff, realistic specular highlights, and clean shadow diffusion, without the overhead of custom mesh lights or stacking rectangular emitters.

### Volume shader (VDB loader) and TyFlow Inferno support

V-Ray expands its volumetrics toolset with new tools for working with volumes and native rendering of TyFlow Inferno simulations. Together, they let you experiment and iterate on volumetric effects faster, with more control and less manual work.

There is a new V-Ray Volume Object combined with a new Volume Shader. You can apply a single shader to multiple objects and control them all at once. With intuitive settings for density, color, and emission, you can easily fine-tune your volumetric effects and achieve the exact look you want. Two new specialized volume textures provide even more creative flexibility.

We're also introducing direct rendering support for TyFlow Inferno's volumetric simulations, including effects like smoke, fire, and explosions. Changes to your simulations appear directly in the render, without exporting and importing VDB files.

## Better material workflow

### Node Editor and UI improvements

The Node Material Editor in V-Ray for SketchUp and Rhino makes [creating and adjusting materials](https://blog.chaos.com/dramatically-expand-your-material-and-texture-library-with-vray-plugin-nodes?hsLang=en) more intuitive. Preview materials and expand their thumbnails right in the editor to see changes without rendering the full scene.

You can also duplicate nodes, drop them onto existing connections, insert textures between nodes in a few clicks, and connect displacement directly to a material for more control over surface detail. These updates make it easier to experiment with different material setups and fine-tune your results without interrupting your workflow.

## Additional V-Ray updates

### AMD GPU rendering

Enjoy greater flexibility when choosing your hardware with V-Ray GPU support for AMD graphics cards through the HIP platform, including competitive 16 GB VRAM options and industry-leading performance for out-of-core rendering.

### V-Ray for SketchUp in Spanish

V-Ray for SketchUp is now available in Spanish, making it more accessible to Spanish-speaking designers and studios.

## Real-time rendering with Vantage

### Better Vantage compatibility

Enjoy a more [connected workflow between V-Ray and Vantage](https://blog.chaos.com/speed-up-your-v-ray-archviz-workflow-with-chaos-vantage?hsLang=en), with improved viewport rendering in SketchUp and Rhino, easy-to-use grass and water presets, and support for cluster painting in Vantage. Create, refine, and explore your scenes in real time with greater ease and consistency.

### Veras and Anima integration in Vantage

Bring your real-time environments to life with instant AI ideation and advanced crowd simulation in [Vantage](https://www.chaos.com/vantage). By importing Anima projects directly into Vantage, you can populate your 3D scenes with realistic crowds while enjoying optimized load times and fast viewport responsiveness. With Veras, you can run generative AI restyling and explore style variations directly from your viewport with a single click, keeping your creative exploration fluid.

### Gaussian Splat relighting in Vantage

Blend reality with computer graphics by dynamically relighting captured environments. Easily adjust the lighting of imported [Gaussian Splat](https://blog.chaos.com/3d-gaussian-splatting-new-frontier-in-rendering?hsLang=en) assets so they react naturally to your scene’s digital light sources and day/night environments. This makes it simpler than ever to place your architectural models in context and blend them into photorealistic, scanned environments with unified lighting.

### Expanded material realism and detail in real time

Unlock stunning physical accuracy and visual depth in your real-time presentations. Bring V-Ray material parity to your Vantage scenes with native support for dispersion, anisotropy, thin film, and sheen. This allows you to realistically capture how light splits inside refractive glass, dances across brushed metals, or catches the soft fibers of fabrics and iridescent surfaces.

Vantage updates are available across all supported host platforms.

## Crowd and traffic simulation with Anima

### AI pathfinding for people & crowds in Anima

[Anima's](https://www.chaos.com/anima) new AI pathfinding lets characters intelligently navigate 3D scenes on their own. Anima automatically reads your model's surfaces to find intelligent navigation routes that account for slopes, obstacles, and crowd flow, with no manual setup. This allows you to go from a single pedestrian to a crowd of thousands with natural, realistic movement.

### Waypoint tool for people in Anima

Populate your environments with life in just a few clicks. The new Waypoint tool allows you to easily guide people and crowds through your scene. Place a few strategic waypoints, and Anima's AI pathfinding will take care of the rest, generating natural, realistic movement for your characters. It’s the fastest way to evaluate spatial flow and [bring your scenes to life](https://blog.chaos.com/narrativ-experience-olympia?hsLang=en).

### 240 new animated characters

Freshen up your scenes with 240 new animated 4D character models. Anima automatically creates variations of your preferred models to keep your visuals authentic and ensures you always have plenty of options at your fingertips. These high-quality assets are readily accessible from Chaos rendering tools and integrate seamlessly into your visualization workflow.

## AI design exploration with Veras

### Node-based UI in Veras

[Veras 5.3](https://blog.chaos.com/veras-5.3?hsLang=en) adds NODES, a new tab where you build your own workflows by wiring nodes together. A workflow can generate and edit images and video, analyze them, build parametric 3D geometry, and bake the result into Revit, Rhino, or SketchUp.

An agent can build a workflow for you, any setting can become a simple control, and every workflow saves itself to your library. The Veras nodes tab is currently accessible only through the [Veras](https://www.chaos.com/veras) standalone app.

### New models for video editing and generation in Veras

Explore new creative possibilities with advanced AI models in Veras. Powered by Veo 3.1, Grok Imagine, and Gemini Omni, generate videos in up to 4K with native audio, use existing clips to guide motion, and extend your shots.

Updated OpenAI image models give you greater precision and creative control to generate, refine, and perfect your still images before bringing them to life through video.

### New agent for scene creation in Veras

Veras’s new Agent mode turns your references into a 3D model. Choose [GPT-6 Astra or Claude Opus 5.5](https://blog.chaos.com/veras-adds-gpt-6-astra-and-claude-opus-5.5?hsLang=en), and set the effort level to control how thoroughly the agent works. Add up to 12 references, from renderings, photos, and sketches to your host view and 3D viewer snapshots; combining views gives the agent more to work with.

It then builds the model step by step with real building elements, from walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, cameras, and furniture to complex forms like curved walls, swept solids, and section roofs, checking its work against your references and correcting mismatches as it goes. Agent mode is currently available only in the Veras standalone app.

## Virtual production with Arena

[Chaos Arena](https://www.chaos.com/arena) is the fastest route from a V-Ray scene to an LED wall. Move production-ready V-Ray scenes directly onto LED screens for live-action filming, without converting assets, losing your lighting, or rebuilding materials.

On set, you can adjust shaders live, balance surface colors with local decal corrections, and use real-time depth of field and lens tracking to blend physical sets with digital environments. Studios can capture premium, [lifestyle-driven marketing films](https://blog.chaos.com/binyan-studios?hsLang=en) in a single shoot, with clients reviewing and approving creative decisions live on set.

## Discover V-Ray 7, update 5

[AI is reshaping how images are made](https://blog.chaos.com/the-state-of-ai-in-architecture-survey-insights?hsLang=en); the gap between real-time and photorealistic rendering keeps narrowing, and economic pressure is pushing studios to do more with less. Yet professional work still depends on the same fundamentals: full creative control, consistent quality, and a renderer artists can rely on from concept to final frame.

V-Ray 7, update 5, builds on those fundamentals with the reliability, scalability, and flexibility production teams need, plus enterprise-grade security for studios and firms of every size.
